Notre Dame Information

Notre Dame High School is a Catholic high school under the auspices of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Knoxville for young men and women grades 9 through 12. It was founded in 1876 by the Dominican Sisters of the St. Cecilia Community in Nashville at the request of the Reverend Patrick Ryan, then pastor of Saints Peter and Paul Church.

Notre Dame is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. It holds membership in the National Catholic Education Association, the Tennessee Association of Independent Schools, the Tennessee Department of Education and the Tennessee Secondary Schools Athletic Association.

While Notre Dame High School was established primarily for Catholic students, the school welcomes and provides for the admission of students of all religious beliefs and creeds. Approximately 30 % of Notre Dame students are non-Catholic. Notre Dame, following the example of Mary, mother of Jesus, for whom the school is named, maintains an atmosphere of acceptance and hospitality for all.
